Two out of three …

Several years ago I purchased three clematis vines … a red, a white and a blue.   A few weeks ago the white clematis put on quite a show.  It’s vines were growing so quickly in early April, that it had managed to grab the red vines and pull them down a little such that they were struggling to reach the top of the double shepherd’s hook that supports them.   The blue always blooms last, but has dozens and dozens of blooms.  Both the white and red have large flowers with petals that overlap slightly making large circles of color.  The blue flowers are smaller and have only four petals; they look more like pinwheels.   I will have to get more photographs to show off the blue flowers seen in the background on one of today’s images.
