This past summer, 17-year cicadas emerged in counties just west of here. I never saw any here and actually only saw a few when I visited that area. I went out this afternoon and clear the thick carpet of leaves off the deck and almost swept this “leaf” off the rail cap. He was missing a leg and couldn’t hop, but limped steadily along entire length of the rail cap. And that’s where I left him as the sun went down.
