I encountered this brightly painted fire hydrant on a Christmas evening when my son and I took a short walk downtown.   I thought it was interesting that the chains were painted to match the “patch” over which they hang.   I’m a bit puzzled about the lower portion that isn’t painted as patchwork … it sort of makes me think of fur … or wood …
