Thankfully the extremely cold temperatures are gone or we’d be digging out for the next two weeks from the precipitation that has fallen the last 24-36 hours. It didn’t dampen the spirits of the birds visiting the feeders too much … after watching a couple of nuthatches and at least 3 purple finches, I decided it was time to refill the feeders … two were empty, a third was nearly empty and the suet feeder had room for another cake of the nutty variety the woodpeckers seem to enjoy so much. My feet were wet by the time I was done, so I figured I might as well play in the rain a bit more and the fact that much of my yard was in puddles, made it quite easy to find something to photograph.
