There was a sign between the two beach areas providing the guidelines in place that visitors are to follow to help ensure that Deep Creek Lake remains clean and unharmed by their use. The water was indeed clear and there were no signs of trash, unlike some locations I’ve visited along the Potomac in the past. The water moving in and out along the beach was only inches deep and the bright sunlight had no trouble reflecting off the many pebbles in the sand. As the water ran over larger pebbles, ripples would appear. I spend several long minutes just watching the sunlight dancing in the ripples.
