This is one of dozens of images I captured last summer.   I was hoping for a little more dark sky than I found.  But after scrolling through the series of images, I’m certain that those “clouds” are the Milky Way.  This is a single image.  There were some wispy clouds that moved through a few of the later images … and an aircraft or two in others.
