Sunrise over the river

This morning I got up early … actually earlier than I needed to, so I packed up the camera and tripod and headed to a good location to view the rising sun.  A heron came in low and hid in the rocky breakwater out in front of me while it was still quite dark.  Unfortunately, the sky was not much lighter when it headed on down the river.  In the low light, I would have had no chance to get a decent photo of it.  I was quite happy a little later when a seagull hung for a few seconds on the breeze allowing me to get this shot.
