Fun camera settings …

A week or so ago, my son and I were talking cameras and looking at all the settings and modes they have these days.  My Nikon D7100 has an effect setting for Color Sketch.  I’ve created the same effect in post processing before and wondered just how good it might be from in-camera processing.  Since today was one of those cold, dreary, rainy sorts of winter day, I decided to use this effect and snap a photo that would brighten a dreary day.   When I went grocery shopping last weekend, there was a display at the front of the produce section of cut flowers and potted primroses.  I thought the primroses might be something I could work on macro photography with so I picked one out and managed to get it home without dumping it in my car or having it develop “frostbite”.    The disadvantage of using the effects settings is that only a JPG is saved … no RAW file.  So if you only captured a scene in the color sketch mode and then wanted a regular photo, you’re out of luck.  So maybe post-processing is the way to go.
