First hummingbird sighting of the year …

I realized Saturday afternoon that it was May already and I’d not gotten out my hummingbird feeders yet.  I managed to find my favorite from last year and the one I’d bought at the end of the season and get them filled with “nectar” and hung out in front of the house.   When I pulled into the driveway and noticed the one that was in front of me, I wondered how long it would take before they found them.  Before I could look away, I hummingbird dart around the corner of the house and headed to the feeder.

I carried in my groceries and then took my camera out and sat on the steps.  I heard it come around the corner again, but when it saw me it headed for a tree a short distance away.   (For such tiny things, they do make a bit of noise.)  I watched dart back and forth on the far side of the azaleas for a bit, but couldn’t get a clear shot at it.  Eventually, it did come and check out each of the feeders while I sat on the steps between them.
