The antique clock …

Today I took a walk back in time and visited a building the had started out as a hotel and tavern before becoming a Confederate Hospital during the Civil War.   It had been on my “places to visit” for some time.  My 2nd great-grandfather had been assigned there as a hospital guard, which was considered light duty, following being wounded earlier in the war.   Following the Civil War the usage of the building changed a number of times and while much of the museum that is there now addresses the Civil War they have dedicated space to share information and artifacts from all the periods and uses.   Sitting in the entry way was an unusual clock.  The sign sitting read “Antique Swiss or Switzerland Deck Clock – ca. 1885, find and unusual eight-day going bronze, Italian onyx and crystal keyless desk timepiece, Swiss.”

  1. I did have a polarizing filter on … removed all but the strongest reflections. There were windows on either side of the door.
